Parasolspar, dat is de algemene naam van deze uit Japan afkomstige conifeer. De lange glanzende naalden staan in een fraaie krans op een takje, vandaar deze naam. Het is een mooie plant met de karakteristieke coniferenvorm. Door de langzame groei ook heel geschikt voor kleine tuinen.

De plant past goed in een pot op het terras. En in de kerstperiode leent deze plant zich goed als snijgroen.
